The flower blooms
In iridescent color
Such a celestial lure
Draws all attention
But behind the beauty
It squelches the growth
Of its neighbors' potential
The deceiving color
The lie in its petals
Distracts from the eventual eclipse
Of the life giving force
To those too close
To its dangerous petals
And yet as those too close
Obliviously suffer and wither
Under the shadow of this selfish flower
The flower is saddened
For the surrounding, dying flora
For it knows that
The forest carpet is its frame
And beauty without a frame
Is not anything
But a substandard painting
Left in a basement
To be adored by no one
And so the flower grieves for the frame
Because it is not garnishment alone
For the flower without a carpet
Does not have firm ground
To place its essential roots
It is vulnerably alone
To deal with the torrent
That saturates the mud
Til the faded and battered flower
Is smothered and lost
Never to be admired again.
*A few notes to this poem. I feel that admiration is equal to happiness and joy.
