Instinct

A black hole
Sucks me in.
The pull is undeniable
Impossible to withstand.

My heart is clear
But my mind is muddled.
It's so obvious
That a trap is set.

And I go,
As a mouse to cheese
No inhibitions,
No ability to resist
Just instinct.

The walls of protection go down
And my heart is pierced again.
Foolish heart, feeble it is
Calloused now, it bears its wounds

Regret, sorrow, disappointment
Will those lessons need re-learning
How many times can one fall for the trap?

Is doom inevitable?
Can a black hole be escaped?
Can the mouse resist its instinct?
