My heart struggles
Its beat slows
And after each one
I wonder if the next one will come.
Drops of thick red
Fall from my eyes.
The blue iris turns black
From the bruises on my heart.
A splinter cuts through
My fighting heart
And I will it to stop
But the heedless heart continues.
Surely death is better.
God stop my heart
Stop the burning behind
These moistened eyes.
Curse these dreams.
Curse these expectations.
Truly a killer of relationships
The true splinter are these.
