For the Birds

The birds chirp loudly
Their conversation fills the air
A gentle breeze lifts their wings
And their silouhuette imprints
Against the clear blue sky.

What are they saying?
What are they fighting about?
What game are they playing?

The trees sway in the wind
Ruffling the birds' home.
Restless they are
Ever since the sun began to shine.

A robin lands close;
Looks at me questioningly.
A black spot in this heavenly scene.
And I wonder how I fit in.
